The Physician Informaticist integrates nursing, computer, and information science to manage and communicate content build, training, and adoption in clinical practice. Facilitates the integration of evidence and best practice and industry knowledge of successful implementation to support patients, clinicians, physicians, and other providers in their use of electronic health record (EHR). Understands workflow redesign and demonstrates a strong understanding of physician and clinician engagement and EHR design, build, validate and train. Responsible for supporting the development of order sets, clinical documentation that assist clinicians and physicians in the delivery of patient care through CPOE, note writing, and achieving safety and quality goals. Advocates the use of information technology in the clinical setting. Works with the Informatics Team to meet the needs of clinicians and physicians by providing solutions which are aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Ensures excellence in customer service and communicates needs from clinicians to Information Technology and vice versa. Integrates workflow evaluations with Informatics build teams and projects, including review and monitoring of final design, build, validate efforts. Identifies and implements strategies to improve the overall quality of service and achievement of quality metrics. Accountable for on-going facilitation of IT staff regarding build efforts to meet organizational excellence. Knowledgeable on state and federal rules and regulations; ensures compliance with accrediting and certifying bodies and federal, state and local agencies. Expectation of 20% clinical practice in the inpatient setting as hospitalist/Emergency department coverage acute minor walk-in, and Graduate Medical Education assistant professor. Performs other related duties as required. Reports to: Chief Medical Information Officer. Maintains a collaborative relationship with the Vice President Information Technology, Vice President & Chief Patient Care Officer, Director Information Technology, and Director of Informatics.
o Medical Doctorate o Able to meet requirements to be approved and credentialed by the YRMC Medical Staff board for privileges. o Licensed to practice in the State of Arizona Education Preferred: o MD/DO with Master’s Degree in Healthcare Informatics or a health care/computer sciences related field
o 3 years recent clinical acute care experience o 1 year clinical informatics experience o 3 years leadership experience o Demonstrated ability to translate technical terminology for understanding by non-technical audiences o Clinical workflow redesign experience o Exceptional communication, organization, critical thinking and analytical abilities o Prior experience collaborating between information technology and clinical leadership o Prior experience advocating use of technology and workflow redesign in the clinical setting Experience Preferred: o Implementation, optimization, and/or support of Epic Systems Corporation clinical applications o Lean six sigma experience o Formal training in informatics, project management and system analysis
